Allocation of wood based products in the Volgo-Vyatski region at the beginning of simulations is presented in scheme 1. According to the initial data short-term products constitute about 18%, medium term - 60% and long term - 22% of the products produced from pine wood.
Analyses showed that the amount of carbon bound in wood-based products was affected mainly by terminal use and rate of the decay.

The significant part of carbon (30%) is lost during first years, when wood is harvested and processed (scheme 2). Obviously, the amount of carbon in pine wood products could be maximized by producing more long-term products, and if removed products were to be disposed of in landfills.
